- DoD Launches Online Tool for Suppliers
Until now, product suppliers who tried to introduce their corrosion control product or service to the DoD encountered a number of obstacles. For starters, they lacked a centralized source and had trouble finding the right information. Now suppliers have reason to celebrate. The DoD Office of Corrosion Policy and Oversight has just launched a sophisticated and user-friendly Web tool to guide industry through the process of introducing corrosion prevention products.
- NAVSEA Materials Engineer Leads Shipboard Preservation Efforts
NAVSEA is made up of some of DoD's finest technical experts. The Navy division works closely with the Office of the Secretary of Defense and other Services to fight corrosion and preserve DoD assets. Veteran materials engineer Beau Brinckerhoff leads a variety of community efforts to control corrosion on ships, submarines, aircraft carriers, and small boats. - Web-Based DoD Course Nears Completion
The DoD and NACE International are developing a series of online basic corrosion courses for defense acquisition personnel in all of the Services. Through a variety of modules, the first course, known as Corrosion 101, will teach the scientific principles of corrosion as well as methods of preventing and controlling it. The new course is designed for corrosion program managers, acquisition logisticians, system engineers, facility engineers, and contracting personnel who need to understand corrosion's forms and effects.
- Army Corrosion Program Identifies New Corrosion Mitigation Techniques
In this CorrDefense White Paper, three authors explore several inroads made by the Army in corrosion prevention.
