Herron Leads the Specs, Standards, and Qualification Processes Team
Robert Herron, an experienced materials engineer who supports the Army's aviation and missile acquisition programs within AMRDEC, recently took the helm of the Specs, Standards, and Qualification Processes Team. The team, which draws experts from all military branches, provides DoD operators and maintainers with high-quality corrosion prevention products and materials. Under Herron's leadership, the team continues its progress toward eliminating redundant testing of new materials and making it easier to introduce new products.
- DoD Invites Experts to Attend Next Corrosion Forum at NACE CORROSION/2007
Experts are invited to participate in events pertaining to the military corrosion prevention community during the week of the NACE International Annual Conference and Expo 2007 in Nashville, Tennessee. These events include the DoD Corrosion Forum XIV, a Corrosion Prevention Advisory Team (CPAT) Workshop, and a day-long symposium addressing the corrosion of military hardware and facilities.
- DoD Funds Texas Nanotechnology Consortium
DoD will use a $1.4 million appropriation secured by Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison to fund the Consortium for Nanomaterials for Aerospace Commerce and Technology (CONTACT), a group of seven leading Texas universities who will create revolutionary nanomaterials for the defense aerospace industry. Specifically, CONTACT will help develop and commercialize next-generation composites and smart materials for the Air Force.
- Tri-Service Conference Planners Issue Call for Papers
Planners of the 2007 Tri-Service Corrosion Conference have invited corrosion experts to submit papers for consideration. This year's conference theme is "Integrating Corrosion Prevention and Control in Policy, Planning, and Programming." The conference will take place at the Hyatt Regency Denver from December 3 to 7.
